Terms of use
Rules for using Energy Agora.
Last updated: 22 July 2026
These terms explain how Energy Agora may be used by visitors, co-ops, community energy groups, and people comparing membership or electricity-buying options.
These terms are written for the current early version of Energy Agora. They should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before the service is used at larger commercial scale.
What Energy Agora is
Energy Agora is an independent directory and profile platform for energy cooperatives and community energy groups. It helps groups describe membership, public contact details, community goals, and possible surplus electricity opportunities.
What Energy Agora is not
Energy Agora does not provide legal, financial, investment, engineering, grid-connection, tariff, regulatory, tax, or electricity-trading advice. Listings are informational. Anyone joining a co-op, investing money, buying electricity, or signing an agreement should do their own checks and speak directly with the relevant co-op and qualified advisers.
Accounts and listings
- Co-op account holders are responsible for keeping login details secure.
- Each account is intended to manage one co-op, community group, or listing.
- Submitted information should be accurate, lawful, and not misleading.
- Public contact details should only be added if the account holder is allowed to publish them.
- Energy Agora may remove, edit, hide, or refuse listings that appear inaccurate, abusive, spammy, impersonating, unsafe, or unsuitable for the directory.
Manual verification
Manual verification means Energy Agora has reviewed the listing request using submitted details, public information, website or record checks, and/or follow-up correspondence. Verification is limited and does not mean the co-op is endorsed, financially sound, legally compliant, technically viable, or suitable for any particular user.
Starting a new co-op
Pages for new or forming co-op communities are recruiting and coordination pages. They may describe goals, early share ideas, people needed, and help wanted. They should not be treated as formal investment offers or legal incorporation documents.
Surplus electricity and buyer information
Co-ops may describe surplus electricity availability, buyer requirements, or possible PPA discussions. Energy Agora does not arrange electricity supply contracts, guarantee availability, verify grid rights, or confirm regulatory permissions. Buyers and co-ops must complete their own commercial, legal, technical, and regulatory checks.
Support messages
The human engineer support form is for practical questions about using Energy Agora or understanding the platform. It is not an emergency service and does not replace professional advice.
Availability
Energy Agora is provided on an early-stage basis. The site may change, break, be unavailable, or remove features. Data should not be treated as the only copy of any important co-op records.
Acceptable use
Users must not use Energy Agora to:
- Impersonate a co-op, person, company, or public body.
- Publish false, misleading, defamatory, unlawful, or harmful information.
- Upload content they do not have permission to use.
- Attempt to bypass security, scrape abusively, spam forms, or disrupt the service.
- Use the service for unlawful energy sales, financial promotions, or regulated activity without the required permissions.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as Energy Agora develops. Continued use of the site after changes means the updated terms apply.
