Privacy policy
How Energy Agora handles information.
Last updated: 22 July 2026
Energy Agora is an independent directory for energy cooperatives and community energy groups. This policy explains what information is collected when co-ops create accounts, submit listings, request help, or appear on the site.
This policy is written for the current early version of Energy Agora. It should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before the service is used at larger commercial scale.
Information we collect
When someone creates a co-op account or listing, Energy Agora may collect:
- Account email, password credentials, co-op or group name, and country.
- Profile details such as city, public contact email, membership cost, electricity cost, goals, capacity, status, profile color, and optional uploaded image.
- Messages sent through the human engineer support form, including name, email, question, and the page the message came from.
- Technical information normally created by hosting and security systems, such as request logs, IP-related security data, browser details, timestamps, and error information.
How we use information
Energy Agora uses information to:
- Create and secure co-op accounts.
- Save profile drafts and publish verified listings.
- Send manual verification emails to the Energy Agora review inbox.
- Review whether a listing request appears connected to the co-op or community group.
- Reply to support questions by email.
- Maintain site security, prevent abuse, and fix technical problems.
What appears publicly
Approved co-op profiles may show the profile information submitted by the account holder, including public contact email and optional photo. Account login email, password credentials, internal review details, and private support messages are not shown publicly unless the account holder also enters the same information into public profile fields.
Verification
Listing requests are manually reviewed using details such as the co-op name, account email, public records, website information, and follow-up correspondence. Verification is intended to reduce obvious impersonation, but it is not a financial, legal, technical, tariff, or regulatory endorsement.
Service providers
Energy Agora may use third-party providers to operate the service, including website hosting, database storage, email delivery, and security tools. Current providers may include Vercel for hosting, Neon or PostgreSQL-compatible storage for database records, and Resend for email notifications.
Retention and deletion
Account and profile records are kept while the account exists or while needed for review, security, support, or legal reasons. Co-op users can delete their account from the account section of the profile form. Deleting an account removes the related profile draft or public listing from Energy Agora.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to, or restrict use of your personal data. You can contact Energy Agora through the human engineer support form on the site to ask about privacy, correction, or deletion.
Security
Energy Agora uses password hashing, secure cookies, manual review, rate limits, and hosted infrastructure controls. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should avoid putting private, sensitive, or commercially confidential information into public profile fields.
Changes
This policy may be updated as Energy Agora adds features, providers, or a custom domain. The updated date above will change when the policy changes.
